What is FAMS?
FAMS is a powerful, flexible tool for corporate management that enables centralized data access, oversight, and control while supporting decentralized fleet operations. A Web-based centralized database, FAMS contains comprehensive information about the assets in your fleet. Operations, accounting, finance and tax personnel rely on the accuracy of this data to do their jobs well. Rather than depending upon multiple spreadsheets gathered from different divisions, departments, and/or locations, FAMS puts the relevant, accurate, and actionable data at your fingertips.
And since the status of your assets can change from day to day, FAMS makes it easy to keep the information current. The system allows users to update key information when an asset is transferred to a new location or placed into active, inactive, or disposed status. Mileage, service hours, and other relevant data can all be updated and visible to all system users immediately.
Keep Your Fleet Legal and Running
Organizations with multiple assets in multiple locations face an extremely complex task in keeping the entire fleet registered, titled, and permitted properly. Relying on individual divisions to provide vehicle data to the finance department allows for a large margin of error. Key information might be missing or misstated.
Divisions may each use unique data formats making it challenging for a central finance or operations department to analyze fleet identification details with any level of certainty. Moving to a FAMS centralized database with current, accurate information can help to ensure that you are not underpaying, or overpaying, your taxes and that you are optimizing registration-related fees.
Additionally, consolidated information enables the timely and accurate titling and registration renewal of each asset. While local divisions want to get the trailer loaded and on the road, finance and corporate operations have to take a broader view. From a legal perspective, it is imperative to title and register a vehicle according to the laws of the states where that asset is registered and/or currently domiciled.
Maximize Asset Utilization
Knowing the location and status of your assets is the key to efficiency. FAMS can keep track of actual mileage and service hours giving you an at-a-glance view of the status of your fleet. Reports that could take weeks, depending on the size and scope of an organization, can take minutes to produce using FAMS, making it possible for all departments to make appropriate and timely decisions based on accurate and consistent information.
For Each Vehicle in Your Fleet, FAMS Provides:
- Customizable data fields to match your equipment specifications
- IRP and base plated expiration dates
- Vehicle title number and location
- Lease terms and payment schedule
- Detailed tax payment information
- Digital duplicates of all pertinent asset information
